“My Europe Point”, an outdoor-space information point event, was organized by TDM 2000 International on June 3-5 as part of the “Changemakers for European Democracy” project. Held in the main square of the city, Piazza Yenne, the event was dedicated to promoting participation in the European Parliament elections.
Over the course of three days, the volunteers and local changemakers engaged with passers-by, answering their questions and encouraging conversations about the upcoming elections. Participants of all ages collected informative materials and “Changemakers”-themed gadgets, adding an element of fun while promoting learning. For instance, the participants could answer quiz questions about the history of the EU in order to win a bag of the project.
Besides providing information on the EU institutions and upcoming European Parliament elections, the event was also used as a space to promote active participation, especially among youngsters. We also held a survey to understand whether young people are going to participate in the elections, and if not – why.
The active participation from locals, especially the youth, showed the event’s success in raising awareness and engagement with the EU. By combining educational content with interactive activities, the initiative effectively encouraged a more informed and involved electorate.
