The “Changemakers for European Democracy” project aimed to promote active citizenship in democratic processes. The project was focused on increasing the interest of citizens, especially first-time voters, in the 2024 European Parliament elections. Throughout the project, various activities were carried out, including “Multiplier events.” These events were organised as part of the project just before and shortly after the European Parliament elections and were among the key activities in engaging the public, candidates and newly elected MEPs.
Before the elections, we focused on direct interviews with the candidates for the European Parliament. The goal of these interviews was to present their visions and plans. They can be found on our Facebook page. After the elections, our attention shifted to the newly elected MEPs. In this phase, we prepared an interview offering a deeper insight into the life of an MEP, describing the processes after the elections, and explaining how the European Parliament actually functions. This podcast is available on Spotify.
Following the elections, a discussion on the topic “Women in Politics” was also organised. The invitation to discuss was accepted by a newly elected MEP, a sociologist, and a political scientist. The discussion was conducted as a live event and was also streamed on our Facebook profile and YouTube. The discussion covered not only the position of women in political structures but also the MEP’s vision for her work in the European Parliament, providing inspirational perspectives and motivation for future generations. The full recording of this discussion is available on our Facebook page.
The “Changemakers for European Democracy” project thus successfully contributed, through “Multiplier events” activities, to spreading democratic values and increasing political engagement among citizens.
