TDM 2000 Malta successfully held 4 multiplier events as part of the ‘Changemakers for European Democracy’ project. This project, involving a dynamic international network of NGOs, aimed to promote the EU elections and core European values among youth in anticipation of the June 2024 election.
The 4 events were held at Sprachcaffe Village, Cavalieri Art Hotel and the iconic Parliament building in Valletta. In the 2 initial events held at Sprachcaffe, Mr. Duncan Muscat and Dr. Kevin Gatt discussed the importance of the sustainability of politics on a local and a European level. In the 3rd Multiplier event held at the Art hotel, we presented the results of the project to a series of distinguished guests and contacts within the network, whilst in the 4th and final meeting brought together representatives from the two political parties (Dr. Ramona Attard from the Partit Laburista and Dr. Michael Piccinino from the Partiti Nazzjonalista) whose candidates secured seats in the European Parliament. This final 90-minute session was marked by a series of insightful discussions led by the TDM executive members, who posed probing questions to the party representatives.
Key topics touched in the 4 multiplier events included an in-depth analysis of the election results, highlighting both successes and areas for improvement. The dialogue also emphasised the crucial role of youth in European politics and explored strategies for greater youth engagement by the elected candidates.
These meetings underscored the importance of active political participation and the need for ongoing dialogue between young people and political leaders.
