A discussion with the Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the 2019-2024 term was organised in collaboration with the Gymnázium, Golianova 68 in Nitra. This activity offered students, who are first-time voters, a unique opportunity to learn more about the functioning of the European Union and the European Parliament directly from a current MEP.
The discussion, which was held in February 2024, before the publication of candidates for the European Parliament elections, focused on educating and motivating young voters. The MEP explained to the students the basic aspects of the EU’s functioning, the role and significance of the European Parliament, and discussed current issues raised by the students. This interaction allowed students to gain an understanding of how the EU affects their daily lives and how they can contribute to shaping its future.
The discussion with the MEP thus contributed to a deeper understanding of the roles and significance of the European Union and supported the engagement of young voters. The “Changemakers for European Democracy” project continues its mission to inform and activate EU citizens, thereby strengthening democratic values and creating a bridge between citizens and the EU itself.
